Vibration White Finger Solicitors - OP Law

Vibration white finger is a disorder of the blood supply to the fingers and hand which can be caused by prelonged or regular use of vibrating hand-held tools.
People who suffer from the effects of vibration white finger often complain of symptoms consisting of numbness in the hands, tingling fingers and whiteness affecting the tips of the fingers. These symptoms are often triggered by cold temperatures.

When the fingers are affected by cold the blood vessels in the fingers go into spasm. This restricts the flow of blood into the fingertips causing the fingertips to turn white. In order to keep blood within the tissues of blood vessels these vessels dilate and when the blood is used up the fingers turn blue. Once the episode of spasm subside blood flow returns to the fingers and the fingers turn red.

These symptoms are often painful and can last for anything from 10-15 minutes up to one hour. Very often there is no treatment for these symptoms and a sufferer may go on to develop problems affecting grip and dexterity which may cause difficulty in picking up and manipulating small objects affecting activities at home, at work and certain recreational pursuits.

There is often a delay or latency period between exposure and ill health, which may range from a few months to several years although most experts will agree that where symptoms appear more than two years after the cessation of the vibration, those symptoms are generally not considered to be causally related to the vibration exposure.
